You should buy a Powerball ticket, my friend. Every time I walk down Charles Street, I wonder how NRO manages to stay in business. I hope this marks a turning point in their customer service.
Amazing how random some customer experiences are. For instance, AoC tends to get a bad rap around here due to some of Adam's return and communication quirks. Yet, I've bought shoes from him since shortly after he opened, have had nothing but first rate service through today, and would highly recommend AoC to anyone. That said, I know my size and don't jerk him around.
I see he posted some pictures on the website from the early days which made me a little nostalgic. I bought my first pair of Aldens through him when I was fresh out of college and have owned a number of the special make-ups he did. Unfortunately, I let most of them go, so it's nice to see them again.
P.S. I think I paid $285 for that first pair, and I thought I was bat shit crazy!
It is pretty crazy. I do think though that NRO has made a concerted effort to correct the customer service disasters of the very recent past. Their communication/e-mail link on their website promises a reply within 24 hours. If you try to contact them through their system, they are fairly efficient.
I bought my second pair of Aldens from Adam about a year and a half ago and had to request an exchange. He was very civil and accommodating; no demands to pay with cashiers checks or money orders. It definitely helps to know exactly what you want in the correct size.
In any case, I think I have gone bat sh*&t crazy buying all of these shells. The question is, when will my wife demand that I join some sort of support group like Aldens Anonymous.
