i guess the issue is, i get that loafers are for loafing an' all, but am i having unrealistic expectations regarding expecting to be able to walk about a reasonable amount without heel slippage?

Really tempted by the unlined BB #8 LHS - but before i try them for size --- I just wanted to check how you guys size your Alden Loafers - when you try them on are they *really tight and snug* / almost too tight? ... how should i think about heel slippage and walking .. is it just too be expected?  One advantage with shell i guess i that i need not work too much about them stretching too out.

Advices appreciated.  Sure i could sell them if it doesnt work out - but it is a lot of dollar to drop.

With my color 8 alden for bb unlined LHS, and my tassels in suede and shell, i literally have no heel slippage. They are comfortably snug. They key for me was going down in width until my heel was locked in.

For guys who obsess over sizing, what are some insoles (leather) that you all would recommend to take up a bit of space?
I saw some Saphir leather insoles available from "The Hanger Project" that looked pretty nice. I'm thinking about getting a pair for my golf shoes.

This is correct, so only get the try on pair if you have already decided on Rancourt.

Can you customize OSB as you can with Rancourt?

Also, Rancourt does Shell Cordovan.  Didn't see it avail on OSB's website, but maybe I missed it.

No shell for OSB and no MTO program, but they do have some special makeups for a few stores.  Rancourt certainly has a much larger selection.

Personally, I am hoping to find a proper fit in the BB LHS by Summer.

The only Goodyear-welted product that Oak Street currently produces is the Trench Boot.  All of their other shoes (including loafers) are hand-stitched moccasin construction.

PS - The Grant, when taken TTS feels rather large in the boot - anyone know if Alden offers leather insoles directly? I've heard from Tom that they do that..

Yes they do offer leather insoles, I just bought some from them yesterday... However, they also informed me that they are discontinued, so it's whatever they have left in stock...

BTW guys, got an email from J. Gilbert yesterday informing me their special make up order was confirmed by Alden, and they are now taking pre-orders on their medallion toe Oxford on the Plaza last in black shell. If you're interested reach out to Yenni, I placed my order yesterday. Here's what they look like in No.8: http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/Shoes-Medallion_Toe_Oxford_241.htm

I just emailed Alden to see if they actually still exist. I'm also going to my local Alden retailer today, Hubert White in MPLS. I'll have their shoe guy, Kevin Luedke 612-339-9200, make some inquiries. He's also got a growing selection of Alden's in stock. I'm tempted to get some 975's just in case. You know how it is.

I called the factory at (508) 947-3926, left several VMs (over the course of a week) and someone finally called back and I ordered over the phone.

And Yenni is also taking pre-orders for a Cigar Indy boot with commando soles.

#4 WT Boots with no flash. These have lightened already. Kinda wish they would have stayed a shade darker.

sazon, just found this post. An Indy with a commando sole would be perfect for Minnesota. If the price of a pre-order thru Yenni is full payment then it's cost prohibitive at best.Your killing me man. Love those #4 boots.
