And they are already sold out of 9.5D, grhhh. That didn't take long! Was holding out in hopes of the Leather Soul restock of the tanker anyhow, or at least that is what I can keep telling myself.

Yeah, Alden's grain and suedes are worth it. And I think calf is underrated on this thread, really. I love my J.Crew PT boots.

I have a pair of calf wingtip boots that I believe I shall dust off this week. Every since I began to acquire shell my blue collar Aldens haven't received much attention.

I am constantly on the lookout for Aldens in the wild. I work in NYC and I am often surprised I don't see more.

Yesterday, for the first time, I saw a pair of 405 Indys and a pair of the J Crew Chocolate Suede Indys out there...Seems the Indy is quite popular these days.

still, would you consider bar lacing for these balmorals?

Thanks... Actually I hadn't considered that, but I can visualize a "cleaner" look with bar lacing, especially on a bal... I'll give it a shot... Thanks for the suggestion...

+1

I think Alden does suede very well. Their unlined suede is a dream for warm weather. I didn't realize that unlined suede isn't all that common.

Don't you need an even number of eyelets on each side?  Like 6 instead of 5.?

If I'm wrong please let me know, as I would prefer bar lacing on my 9016 and 9015, but they have 5 sets of eyelets.

Good point... Here's a link on bar lacing and they reccomend that bar lacing is best when there are even sets of eyelets, 4,6,8, etc... http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/straightbarlacing.htm

Bar lacing looks nice on just about any model, bal or blucher, shoe or boot. For evidence of this I offer up the many pics put on here by Mac.

Just got excited when a pair of brand new whiskey LWB's popped up on eBay in my size.

Price: $920, not including shipping.

Unreal, I really think we are heading for 1k Aldens in the future. I pre-ordered a fair amount of shell this year. Really glad I did.

I'd love to get some whiskey Alden's, but man, nine hundred bones? I was also looking at the Leffot NST #8 Tanker pre-order. Does anyone have an opinion on this make-up?
