wondered what the thoughts were about shell indys as an occasional dress boot.  i would tend to be wearing them with chinos/denim,

but is there a general consensus about them with suits?  Never really seen them in pics with suits - perhaps for good reason!

I wouldn't go with a cap or plain toe. Disclaimer, I also hate the moc toe / split toe configuration in any situation.

Those have actually been available for pre-order since late January.
My split toes just shipped yesterday.
Beware the misleading pics of the #8 LWB though. The welt appears to be light/mid-brown. It's actually dark and the same as is used on the standard #8 LWB.

Crepe soles are mega comfy. I can't really comment on the longevity of them since I may have a larger rotation of shoes than normal people so they don't get a lot of wear.

I can't get into the crepe sole. I am sure it is extremely comfortable but something about it just doesn't resonate with me. Perhaps I find it too casual? Not sure...

Ha ha. Thanks. Just an arboretum, but I did think a little grass and dirt would look good.

I had toe plates put on the AS monks I got from from the AFPOS group MTOs. Those are the only pairs I have with plates.
And I only got those done because AFPOS were offering it as an option.

yeah... i have plastic plates on most of my heels to preserve their longevity. The irony is that I can only wear about 7-8 of my pairs a month.

Thank you and my wallet dislikes you for posting this.  I ordered a pair from Alden NYC a few hours ago.

I tried these on again today at the office and am almost certain they will end up being too wide if I keep them.....CXL LHS from Leather Soul.....they are an 11D if anyone is interested please send a PM.....retail is $515....never worn outside and more pics are available if needed.

I'm not sure Alden is making it but I'm convinced I need a Barrie wingtip or cap toe shell boot in #8.

Any suggestions? Haven't found it on any site. I like the rounder toe of vs Plaza and others.

Love the Jumper boot from Leather Soul but I think it was a limited run.

My ideal boot. ID would be appreciated!va4u3agy.jpg

As a first Alden shoe, what would you suggest? I've heard people state that their cordovan shoes are really good so should I avoid their non-shell options.
I'm looking for something to wear as with casual wear, mainly chinos (I rarely wear jeans) and button downs. Don't really wear boots either, but I might be
open to get a chukka or something smaller.

The #8 2 eyelet chukka is a super versatile shoe. One of the reasons that Leathersoul states it is their best seller. If kept clean and well polished, can go with suits to jeans and chinos, I personally wear #8 and khaki chinos often. Cigar is an alternative but more rare. #8 and navy pants is a great combo. Hope this helps.

With suits - no.
