I know the gunboats seem more popular, but the shortwing formality appeals to me more--are any shell shortwings available offhand that anyone knows of? (I already own the LS black shell model).

Alden DC has these same whiskey shortwingtip bals in stock.  I just picked up a pair a month ago.  Tempted to pick up the 974 (color 8 version) or the BB version.  May have to hold off as I have other shell ideas and limited funds.

BNelson also does a commando sole, but it is rubber in total, not part rubber, part leather, like Alden's.

In the context of Alden boot models, this one is quite formal.

If any of you are seriously interested in this shoe, I would call Kathy at Alden DC.  Alden SF doesn't actually have this shoe in stock as their website indicates.  They have Alden DC ship it out for them when ordered from their SF website.  DC actually has more sizes in stock than the Alden SF website indicates.  I discovered all of this when I called Kathy after believing I missed out on my size on the Alden SF site.  Kathy and Alden DC are awesome!

I just wanted to lend some positive feedback for shoemart.
i have purchased from pretty much all of the alden retailers over the years.

in all of this time, every single pair I have purchased from shoemart (firsts) has been virtually perfect. This cannot be said for any of the other store. yes the other stores will usually accept returns and the shoes one gets from them are really solid, say, 60-70 percent of the time, but shoemart is consistently perfect. just some props here.
maybe they have been selling alden for so long that they can weed out the second rate pairs of the past few years and either send them back or add them to their seconds lists. I don't know. but they are doing something very right.

Leather Soul - Beverly Hills just received the Style Forum Boot in #8 (Plaza Last, Medallion Toe) today. Little too narrow for my wide feet, but I hope that this helps somebody.

Also, Whiskey LWB have arrived to Alden San Fran and Pre-orders have begun and hopefully won't be over for TSM's Ravello Wing Tip Boot with leather sole.

If anybody knows of anything other arrivals or finds stuff out in the future, please let me know. I am a 9D. I have a brand new J, Crew Ravello LWB and a Ravello Chukka , neither of which had touched even carpet. I'll make a formal post as my intent was not to break rules. Just wanted to let you guys know of three awesome new offerings.

Can these be ordered online?

I would like that LSxSF boot so much better if it has all eyelets. Everything else about the boot seems so formal...Plaza last, black edge, leather sole. Why add speedhooks instead of eyelets? I can't imagine many people are wearing this boot casually with denim.

my thoughts exactly.. I'm trying to convince myself I need this boot, but I already have the jcrew pct and the LS indy in #8.. not sure adding a third #8 boot would be worth it if it couldnt be utilized in a more formal way, which I think all eyelets would help
