I think the confusion here is caused by the fact that Alden has two types of perf toes:

The Jumpers which are on the trubalance

And various other perf toe boots (like th e Alpine perf toe) which are barrie.

Brown chromxcel jumpers (ultimates) are the trubalance last for sure.

I have two questions for all the Alden experts here. I really like the cigar shell captoe boots but I am questioning if they are a good purchase because I only wear denim. So the question is do they pair very well with denim or are they too dressy? Secondly, I wear a size 8.5 in the Alden x Jcrew Indy boot so what size should I purchase on the Grant last? The same size or should I go up at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wear em with jeans, great way to stand out. Honestly most shell Alden shoes go well with wool pants, chinos and denim. That's the appeal of the shoes, versatility. I have worn my cigar captoes three times since I got them, once with denim, once with khakis and once with a cardigan/tie/flannel wool pant combo, it worked well with all three. I wear my shell LWB, PTB, tassels with all all combos as well, including suits.

Size up from your Indy size either in width or length (I sized up in width and my toes still hit the sides of the boots a little).

Perhaps...but I have also worn a beat up and faded pair of skinny jeans with my cigar LWBs and I think it looks killer. Done with that affected J.Crew messy cuff roll.

Thanks for posting this up. I was just in there on Friday and was debating purchasing some loafers but decided to hold off. This might be the catalyst I need to pull the trigger. I may have to stop by again after work today.

IIRC, dont think MM is an 11D.
