Received my Alden x Leffot Day Tripper today and man they fit like a glove!!! Just ever so slightly snugger than my cap toe in plaza last. Ravello shell is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks to Namor for posting that eBay listing.

Hmmm... didn't mean to stir up the hornets nest with my comment on that LS photo. Certainly understand the explanation that it is a local retail operation with a strong clientele. And if Tom and Co. are able to sell all the shoes they care to in that way, then that's excellent in my opinion. I have adjusted my expectations of the shoes that appear on their site. I admire more than I expect to own. Of course, I certainly don't need any given pair of $600+ shoes, so the relative difficulty of getting any given LS makeup does me no harm. There always seems to be another interesting Alden shoe somewhere anyway. Maybe I'll have the luck to visit an LS location at some point (odds say BH, though I wouldn't mind visiting the Hawaii flagship), and then I might just pick up something special. Seems to me as if these things are more fun to do in person.

From the Moulded Shoe site...

December 5, 2011
Alden prices set to increase for 2012

After months of speculation we have been officially informed today by Alden Shoe Company that effective December 26, 2011 there will be a significant price increase across the board on all styles.

Please plan your footwear needs accordingly.

Chorizo-fied J. Crew #8 cap toes in the wild. APC petit standards and camp socks.

My apologies in advance if I missed this information earlier, but where did you have the sole work done? And to what specs?
Absolutely stunning... I want to duplicate this on my JCREW #8 asap!
thanks for any info you can provide.

Just got my AF79s from AoC today. Commando sole wasn't ideal, but it was a nightmare finding a wingtip boot in a wide size.

Very nice Renalan. I think the commando sole works well with this makeup.

I wonder what this means for existing orders that have been placed but won't be ready until 2012. I'm thinking specifically of our SF whiskey shortwing boot. I know Mike hasn't asked for payment yet....

And yes, +1 to see just exactly what "significant" means. :plain:

Received a pair of Alden Indy's (J Crew) and noticed a slight blemish on the right boot. Do you guys think i should return them? Is it something that would go away with polishing? The first 2 images are with flash and makes the blemish more noticeable. The 3rd is no flash and a bit more natural looking.

Apologies, i just realized there's an ask a question thread.

I realize that ravello and cigar are very popular. I guess for the traditional folks like me still admire the original #8 Shell. I love this 3215 make up from the classical tassel abardeen last 563 color 8 shell cordovan.

IIRC, the yearly price increase of Aldens are 2-5%. I picked up my whiskey lwb's from the Shoemart for $652 a month or so before the price increase just to save lol ($27 saved :nodding:) The price went up to $680 (4.5% increase). J.Crew also had a markup as well within the same week (Feb?) so for example the Indys were $430 and then they jumped the same percent (4.5%) to $450. I wouldn't be surprised if the special colored cordovan goes up to $710 at the Shoemart.

Well, here's hoping that the new horse slaughter legislation that just passed a couple weeks ago will somehow increase the supply of viable cordovan horse ass.

Not that it would stop Alden from continuing to raise their prices. :deadhorse:
