F#CK that makes things so much complicated wish I had paid for the shoes this afternoon.
Which is more casual, Plain toe or Cap toe?

Regarding AE v Alden - they both have their place and I have some of each in my wardrobe.
I agree with what others have posted about AE offering slightly sleeker options for a basic dress balmoral or oxford and my walnut colored Strands are still probably my favorite shoes I own. Also, I agree that their prices are generally pretty great for the quality. I've never had any quality issues with my AE shoes and their customer service, both in their local store and on the telephone, has been nothing less than top notch.
However, when I am looking for something a bit more interesting or in a rare colored shell I look to Alden. IMO, one of the big advantages of Alden are all the special make ups that are available from retailers like LeatherSoul, Unionmade, Context, etc.
I'm wearing these today and cannot find something similar from Allen Edmonds:

Both are great shoe brands, they just serve different functions.

AE is taking orders for Walnut Shell Strands and Daltons.

I guess I made ordering seem more complicated than it is. Just call an AE store and ask about the shoes. My pair of Strands should arrive in a few weeks. I'll post some pics in "The Shell Cordovan, non-Alden Shoe and Boot Thread" when they arrive.

Alden for JCrew Black Shell Wingtip boots.

I bought same boot.J.Crew said it is single leather sole,But my boot has double leather sole.
It's not big problem for me.
Is yours same double leather sole?

I got these a couple of promotions ago. During that promo (30% off and free shipping), these had been marked as "sold out". I called their customer service and they found a pair in one of their stores and shipped them with no hassle. Maybe you could give it a shot.

^ My mistake. It looks like they are explicitly excluding certain shoes from their promotions. Glad I got mine while the getting was good.
