Was hoping it'd cool down for boots weather but alas it was in the mid 80s today.

Just buy a dark brown pair of Alden's.
PTB in a brown shade is not hard to find.
If you pay $500 only to immediately dye them, you won't be happy with the outcome.

Unfortunately, probably only in one's imagination for a good while.

Got my #8 wingtip boots today and they're gorgeous. They're a bit tight across the ball of my foot. Should I expect them to loosen up with wear, or try to size up? These are a 9.5D and the length is okay, but I could maybe do with a 10. Thoughts?

I am considering a pair of LWB.....does anyone have experience with the brown chromexcel? If so, could you provide some feedback about comfort, durability, versatility, etc?

i don't think cordovan stretches (especially since WTB is basically two separate layers of cordovan) but you should get a little bit more room once your foot settles into the cork footbed. how tight is tight?

If they are just a little tight, I would keep em.  If they are unreasonably tight, they probably won't work.  What do you mean across the ball of your foot? The width is too narrow?

Well, I can't really walk in them or I won't be able to return them, but sitting here I can feel them squeezing a bit across the wide part of my right foot. It's not horrible but if they aren't going to loosen up I should probably size up.

yeah, the width is too narrow on one foot but seems okay on the other.

I
The leather is sealed. It wouldn't work like you might want. You might be able to use a darker polish and over the years it will change. Leffot is about to get a great look dark boot. Preorder that one.
