I floated the idea in the EpauletxCarmina thread. Mike seemed pretty stoked by it, brass eyelets...yummmmm. Availability is always the issue with these "rare" colors. I feel like a broken record.

Nice pic of the 974. It's also worth noting it is built like a tank in terms of durability. nod[1].gif

Thank you. It IS built like a tank... It would be nice to see a photo of yours...

Now, I just have to hope that boots like this come in narrow widths at some point in the future.

Talk to Mike at Epaulet - if he brings this boot back in the future you may be able to get in or a pre-order for a narrow width. I'm on order for a narrow width in the Ravello Brixton that I may or may not see before I die.

Thanks, evolved.
I'm on the Ravello Brixton pre-order as well. Been over a year and half and still patiently waiting. I'm sure it will be well worth it.

So I've determined that I am, in fact, not a 10.5D in the Barrie...but a 10.5E. Not only does this mean I'm going to be selling most of my current Aldens, but that my future options are very limited frown.gif

Today - sand suede tassel loafers
They were seconds from TSM, but other than the minor mark on the right toe, they're beautiful.

The wait times have been insane. Alden NY is still waiting on confimation (after confirmation it's still a 4-5 month wait for delivery) for some of their whiskey make-ups that they placed in May of 2011!!! The rep from NY said "We can't even throw more money at them to make the process faster, our hands are tied"
Like if said before it's crazy that we can build a Condo faster than a pair of shoes.

1) A lot of retailers stock E sizes... I've bought plenty of 9.5E in cordovan and chromexcel recently
2) Try 11D in barrie as well.

Agreed. I wear 11.5E barrie and 12E in grant/leydon. Alden Madison and Citishoes stock E-widths. Solid service from both. Frans Boone seem to stock E-widths in special makeups, but I have yet to buy from them.

A PSA of sorts:

Stopping in Albany, NY on my way to visit relatives in NJ a little over a week ago, I dropped by Joe and Robert Amore's shop to check out their selection of Aldens. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I wanted in stock, but Robert gladly placed a special order for me and everything arrived at his shop a few days later. I picked up my purchases on my drive back through town about a week later...

Amore Clothing has more Aldens in store than what's displayed online and Robert can order any stock Alden from the catalog (no special makeups afaik), provided they are in stock at Alden.

Here's the good great part: #8 LHS are $499 and LWB are $525. In fact, they offer all their Alden shoes at very competitive prices. Robert explains that thanks to lower operating costs, they're able to pass along some savings to their customers. Awesome.

I encourage everyone to support this local business and recommend you e-mail Robert to check stock/availability before placing an order. Don't hesitate to mention that you read about them here; I promised Robert that I'd spread the word about their great customer service.

I have a pair of Alden 403's (for J. Crew) that do not fit as well as they should. Worn only a handful of times and are in great condition. If anyone's interested, please feel free to PM me.
