Yes - they do. As per Alden SF manager.

(no space behind heel).  If its just a matter of the heel being too wide on the 11D (a common complaint for Van last), than that's what I'd do.  If the widest part of your foot fits in to the widest part of the shoe, than you probably have the right length and just need to go narrower.

What do you mean too tight in the front?  Your toes? or the top of your foot under the strap?  Slight tightness over the top of your foot is common for this model at first, and will go away after a few wears.  However, for some it is just so tight that the last won't work for them in any size.

Also, you can email Alden and they can usually tell you if anyone has the style in that size in stock.  That's how I found my 9Cs.

Good Luck.

For the van last, i have to go with my barrie size minus one width (9D to 9C).

Thank you for your input. 11 C was the other size I was considering. 11 D felt great overall (when just standing in them, not too tight or loose anywhere), but there was just too much heel slippage. Also, I meant that 10.5 D was too tight in the toes, mainly. Finally, I am an 11.5 D in the AE 5 last, which conventional wisdom would suggest an 11 D in Alden Barrie (I've never tried on a Barrie lasted shoe), and based on sevenfoldtieguy's input, 11 C in Van.

You are welcome. nod[1].gif

Not to make things more complicated, but I am a 9D in AE's 5 last (AE's longest last) and a 9D in Alden's barrie, and, as said before, a 9C in Alden's van.

Haha, great, so that complicates things.

What sole do these have?

All,

I received an e-mail from North River Outfitters (NRO) They are celebrating their newly redesigned webpage with free shipping on all orders over $50, and %20 off all regularly priced merch. I tried going through the checkout process and the coupon was applied to a pair of Aldens I had in my cart.

Just FYI....

What was the code? Just adding to cart and checking out doesn't do it for me.

Papa Doble,

This looks like it could be your ticket.  Their website says they can get it in 11C, however, I must warn, some on this thread have had less-than-positive experiences with them in the past.  I've never purchased anything from them personally.

Thanks to you and the others for the positive replies.

The one thing I forgot to mention in the post was that I'm finding the commando sole less comfortable than a double leather soul. I think my double leather sole took less time to break in and conform to the shape of my foot. Hopefully it will be broken in soon.

I'd say leather. 95% sure about it.

The order I placed with NRO at the end of June, and cancelled the 3rd week of of July (after NRO not being honest about shipping dates on 3 separate occasions) was delivered to me a little over a week ago.

No one would answer the phone, or return voicemails or emails, when I tried to inquire as to why the order was shipped after I cancelled it and how I could go about returning it.

It wasn't until I filed a complaint with the better business bureau here in MA that I received a prompt email with "Our most sincere apologies" and a return shipping label.

Caveat emptor.

Does anyone have these?  I'm trying to figure out what kind of sole they have.  The picture is of a double-leather sole, but the pair I have looks like a double-waterlock sole.  I'm not sure how to confirm.  J.Crew doesn't know.
