Question....anyone dyed Alden Burnished Tan or attempted to darken it. I really need/want some medium to dark shortwing bluchers. I don't think I will find the RL Marlows at the my price and size. Any thoughts on dying or darkening these burnished tan beauties from Alden.
Well...after posting this I found the exact shoe on ebay in my size at just over $100 so I decided to give it a shot. So...here is the before:
And the After. Still brushing and adding a bit of polish here and there to even out the finish, but came out pretty good. Tried to get close to a RL Marlow color:
Like Uncle says: Whatever I would otherwise wear, +overshoes. I know that they are ugly, but when you get inside you can just take them off.
In my mind, that is a better option than wearing boots with a suit.
I personally wear overshoes for light rain but I have few boots that I do wear when the weather gets pretty bad (for those in NYC you know what it's like when it's pouring and the water gushes about ankle high). When it gets REALLY bad, that's when my wellies come out.
I keep a couple of pairs of shoes in my office so I don't have to carry shoes around on bad days.
Boots + suits: depends on the boot and the environment but I like the look (only the bottom are Aldens):
I don't actually wear suits to work, more business casual.. So, the Indy's would look ok on bad weather days.. I'm just wondering if they can stand up to the weather or should I be careful with those as well?
