No problem, happy to help. FWIW, I think the chromexcel leather's probably worth the upcharge, but the standard with a couple of coats of wax is great in its own right.

What I want to know is where to pick up a set of the waxed laces that the higher-end Indys and the Roy boot have. I've got one set of spares but I feel like I'm going to tear through these any moment.

I used the hiking/work boot laces that you can find at most stores. They're 100x times better than those crappy laces that Alden puts on their boots.

Getting two pairs of Alden Flex Welt's put through soon. Tan and the Lighter Brown (Polo?)

Can't wait.

Casual Alden's really do it for me. The Chukka's are pretty perfect.

I like the Alden laces and have yet to break one. My Tankers are going on 6 months of almost every other day wear and they are still going strong.

I think they are waxed on my Context Tankers and just plain cotton on my Indys (which are only about 3 months old but still holding tight).

Has anyone seen something similar to the Context Roy but in this color/finish? That would be the perfect boot, IMO.

The boots in the 2nd picture are my whiskey shell Indy boots. In general, you'll be hard pressed to find anything in whiskey shell. Just not much supply and in very high demand. Sometimes various stores manage to get an allocation of something whiskey shell, but it's frequently sold out almost immediately. The Madison Ave store occasionally has a barrie last chukka in whiskey shell.

Yeah I researched a bit more and whiskey shell is hard to find. Those whiskey Indys were apparently a limited run from Leather Soul--they don't expect a second release.

I'll have to see what comes up.

I got some brown shoe creme on the welt of my Indys; does anybody know a good way to get it off?

here are the chukkas in whiskey...

these are the only "boot" with a plain-toe that I've seen in whiskey. they also have a blucher shoe in whiskey sometimes available. call the San Francisco store to see if they have them in your size.
