Typically, a card is charged at the point of shipment. This is standard practice for any large retailer or public corporation with some oversight on these types of practices.
However, with these small independent retailers we deal with, it's really up to them. Plus, their system is probably set up to be as simple as possible.
There is a term for this. It's called "bill and hold". Many businesses do this to recognize revenue sooner than they probably should under the accruals accounting methodology. It's something to look for when evaluating companies' financial statements. Typically analysts will make the adjustments necessary to have the balance sheet and income statement more reflective of actuality.
I think its understandable that you are frustrated. It would tick me off too.
So what's the deal with mahogany? I know that it isn't produced lately, at least for Alden, but I'm sure Horween still has the recipe and could whip some up if they wanted. I wonder if they'd be willing to do it if a retailed asked for it in a large enough quantity. Maybe its too close to cigar so they sort of just picked one or the other? Same with number #4 perhaps? Too close to Ravello, so they consolidated it in order to use that capacity to produce larger quantities of fewer colors?
(I realize that #4 is still produced occasionally, before anyone feels the need to point that out.)
Just curious if there was any explanation or theory behind the extinction of mahogany ever discussed.
Also, how come this thread isn't as busy as it was up until recently? I guess people aren't wearing their Aldens as much due to the season? Wearing flip flops so they don't have them on to snap and post photos?
I have a boring job, and this thread used to bring me the entertainment necessary to get me through the day.
been following this thread for about a month. someone should have warned me as well. bought first pair of aldens about 2 months ago and now have 5 with a thrift store loafer on the way!
