Good Alden story.  May you continue to wear your Alden x LS snuff suede wingtip boots "in good health" (as we say) from here on out.

Re: Purchasing Aldens from NRO

I took advantage of that 25% off NRO sale some weeks back to buy a pair of staple #8 LWBs. My order went through without any problems, I received the shoes in an amazing 2 days from Massachusetts to Illinois (it was shipped out the same day I placed the order).

Just want to provide a counter-example to the horror experiences people seem to be having. I don't think NRO is "shady" as someone suggested, but they do appear to have difficulties with accurately depicting inventories on their webstore.

I really think the cigar longwings are my favorite Aldens. Gorgeous.

I also had a good experience with my recent NRO "USA" sale order. They shipped my Color 8 Indy's the same day, and I received them in NYC less than 24 hours later. For $461.25, I'm a very happy camper.

Glad they didn't have to cut those off. smile.gif

(My apologies if this sort of question has been asked before, but for fun...) if you could have only 1 pair of cordovan Aldens in each color -- black, burgundy/#8, cigar, ravello, and whiskey -- what would they be? You are welcome to double up ("all LWB" is acceptable, for example) or restrict yourself to picking 5 different styles. I'll get us started, though note that I don't yet own any Aldens, so this is not based in experience:

Black - Monk Strap
Burgundy/#8 - LWB
Cigar - LHS
Ravello - NST
Whiskey - Chukka Boot

When I called in my info on thursday I was told they'll ship tomorrow (friday) and I'd have them the beginning of this week...
noticed my order was still "being assembled" so emailed to ask if they'd shipped.
today I was told they'll go out "within 48 hours"

That is a good question!

Black = Perf Cap Toe

8 = LHS

Cigar = Thor Boot

Ravello = LHS

Whiskey = Chukka

However I'd also insist on LHS in Cigar and Black in addition.

I tried to submit a selection of styles for the various colors but the formatting would not work. I hang my head in shame.

I actually saw your reply for the few minutes it was here, and I agree that these whiskey cap toes are pretty sick.

fwiw, my true-to-size is 9.5E, and I require a 9E on the Barrie and Modified lasts (9D, though, on the TruBalance last)
