I thought maybe the extra width would give me enough room for a good fit, but the Leydon is a relatively narrow last so it's still too tight. I can try a 12D, but that might end up being too wide without giving me the length I really need.
Ideally I would like to try a 12.5C, but I don't think I can get that in an exchange from NRO. A 13 would almost definitely be too long, so looks like I might be screwed because I can't get a refund from NRO, only an exchange. If I can at least get a 12D from them to try on but they still don't fit, they will certainly end up on B&S here!

A 12C and a 12.5B should be pretty close. Wear them around the house on carpet or with shoe covers. See how your feet feel. NRO should be able to get a 12.5C. I will say that while the 11C was tight on me at first, the 11D was loose and sloppy from the start.

I tried wearing them around the house again for about 30 minutes, but they're still uncomfortably tight. I'm pretty sure now I need the extra length, because the ball of my foot is slightly past the widest part of the shoe near the forefoot. Even with a little bit of stretch in the shoe, it won't be enough to align the widest part of my foot with the widest part of the shoe. I'm going to badger NRO to see if I can get that 12.5C.

I'd say 2014 given that the Leffot order hasn't even been confirmed yet!

How come European shoe manufactures like EG, Carmina, Alfred Sargent...etc have no problem sourcing non #8 shell cordovans from Horween?

Hey Thanks guys.

I actually emailed Aldens and they sent me the eyelets for me to change out the speed hooks.

Scary when you hand over the boots to the cobbler but nothing went amiss, other then the placement as the speed hooks are set back which skews the look of the eyelets.

On a side note if anyone does email Aldens for eyelets make sure you know which color you need.  There are 3 shades of brown they use.

Anyone heard anything about that #4 cap toe boot from TSM?

Love this site and all the great shoes everyone has.

I know Tom Austin used to have a special make up of the cigar PTB on the Plaza... Now that was a keeper.

When did you call them? I'm a little worried, I put down my deposit back in February for an order that they had supposedly already placed earlier that month, is that the same order that's being pushed back?

I think there are a number of factors such as quality and quantity of runs. I assume Alden has larger orders and need much of shell in the quality they expect. However, other orders such as the Alfred Sargent MTO bal boot (cognac/cigar/dark brown) or the double monk (whiskey) only had runs 6 or 7 per run. Alden may need 10 times and it may not be cost effective to do fractions of the total run hence the delay. Just a hypothesis and really don't know...

Orders can be placed but still need confirmation (e.g., "we got your order and yes, we have enough materials to manufacturer them.") of runs. I think Epaulet had an order >18 but has yet to receive confirmation.
