Of course this is entirely up to you. I personally have been waiting for a Ravello Cap Toe boot since I first saw the ones posted here from Tassels Hong Kong.

I will tell you that I have been waiting since September 14, 2010 at 10:48 AM for a watch I had a deposit on and not only that I have had paid in full since June 26, 2011at 10:49 PM. I then doubled down on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 1:21 PM for a date version of the same watch in date version. I just recieved the date version on the 29th of May and am HOPING to have my original watch delivered by July.

That is a lot of time but I can tell from the date version watch that the wait is worth it and I am very satisfied.

Nobody likes to wait but everyone likes a nice random "gift". nod[1].gif Good luck whatever you decide.

in any event, that still means they are not killed for the purpose of the hide; the hide is the byproduct of another industry.
is horween public btw, as in, in the market?

No, family owned.

I started a tread some time ago asking how shell is procured and did not get as detailed responses compared to the last few posts. Should have asked here instead. smile.gif

I have a question for the guys that own the unlined #8 cordovan PTB...

I have the opportunity to buya pair in 10D in Barrie. I am "true" 9.5E in barrie but I wear 10D in Barrie as well. However, given the unlined nature of the cordovan, I am concerned that getting the shoe in 10D. Should I grab this shoe anyway?

I wouldn't - obviously a lot depends on how "true" any given size is on your foot but I consider myself a "true" 9 D in the Barrie (subject to a fair amount of variability depending on shell/suede/CXL/etc and also subject to more variability depending on PTB/Chukka/boot/etc) and I don't like the fit of the 9 D unlined - for me it is too wide (which is why they are currently listed on eBay). A 9.5 D might work better for you.

Yeah, I am wary about buying this shoe before trying it on, and I can't try it on since Tassels in HK is the one that is selling it... Not sure if it is worth the hassle when I can buy color 8 shoes from US retailers in a size I know will work for $200 less

thanks!

Click your username, scroll dooooooowwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn really far and it will say "Edit Signature Text".  If it's not there, something's weird with your account.  My friend could never find it on his account for some reason.  I looked for him as well and it just wasn't there.

So for my "next pair of Aldens," I ended up getting Ravello PTB.  The clean lines of the PTB really show off the beauty of this unique, deep shell color.  Gorgeous, a work of art.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what dress belt (maybe share a hyperlink even) to wear with Ravello shoes?  Regular brown or chestnut seems undeserving of this pairing....

You could always go with a Ravello belt from Alden, if they're still available.

Thinking about adding a cigar chukka to this collection - is this overkill?

Chukkas - Whiskey, Chromexcel on Double Waterlock (LeatherSoul), Navy Suede
Chigar - Captoe Boot, Longwing, PTB on crepe

I love the cigar chukka photos I've seen in this thread and it is my favorite shell color...

^ Go for the chukka cycle.
