Cigar longwngs easily one of, if not the, best Alden make-ups there is. Great LWB rotation you got there Alcibiades.

didn't someone mention the other week or so, that Kathy from Alden DC said this batch was more red and leaned towards #4?

That was me. Got a pair from the same batch from Alden DC and mine are very similar in color to 0waterbouys. Worn twice now and seem to be creasing very nicely. Will post photos when I get a chance.

Alright time to consider purchasing yet another pair...

Right now my primary rotation looks like this: (I am hardly only in a suit, but I like the flexibility of being able to do so; mainly I'm more "streetwear" with a tad of 'dressed up' thrown in for good measure if that makes any sense)
  • Ravello Shell Shortwing Bluchers
  • Burgundy Perf. Captoe Balmorals
  • Black Calf Monkstrap
  • Color #8 Shell Captoe Boot
  • Wolverine 1000 Mile Wingtip Blucher (light/orange brown; no perforation)
  • Cole Haan's Suede Buck (khaki)
  • J.Crew Desert Boots (khaki)

Of the following; which one would you buy/add to my collection? Thanks in advance for the pick and opinion smile.gif

Black Shell Longwing Bluchers

Color #8 Shell Plain Toe Bluchers

Color #8 Shell Chukka

#8 PTB

#8 Chukka

The PTB or chukka gives you a great opportunity to showcase the finer qualities of shell.  Brouguing is nice and adds some visual texture to the shoe, but it can distract the eye from the leather itself.

Sorry to bump, but can anyone help a brother out?
Thanks

well, you always want to go with the larger of the measurements so as to not smush any part of your foot, rendering the shoe unwearable. tongue pads and insoles can make up the difference spots...
so lets assume you are a 10B. That makes you roughly (and i mean roughly) a 9.5C. in the barrie last, that would equate to a 9C.
and there you have it.

Thanks for your response. I was debating between trying a 9.5C or 9C. It sounds like Id be better off going with the 9.

Nothing all that exciting, but I just picked up a pair of split toe All Weather Walkers from a local shop. I had been eyeing them for sometime and had actually put in an order for them twice but canceled the order both times because Alden kept telling the shop it would be about 12 weeks for them to get my size (7.5E) which always seemed odd for a shoe that is a stock item at many shops. Oh well.

Anyway... the local store was having a trunk sale this past weekend and offering up a free pair of shoe trees so I decided to pull the trigger. I was out of town so called my SA and he placed the order for me and told me to still expect the shoes in about 12 weeks or so. But he did give me a small discount for my previous troubles and hooked me up with something else I had been eyeing in the store. Well the shoes arrived yesterday - quite a bit faster than the 12 week estimate!

Has anybody received a shipping confirmation from the NRO sale yet?

I believe a few people mentioned they did.

got a quick shot of my natural cxl longwings from Epaulet. Less than a month old, hit 'em with Reno once this week to add some shine. Color here's not exact--too red.
