Does he actually pull the rubber piece from the slot(normal Alden heel) and then replace it with a new rubber piece or are you referring to a full rubber slab that covers the length and width of the heel(like Allen Edmonds regular non-shell heel)?

On the indy's the heal is a full slab, I realize now the OP was asking about a dove tailed wear pad.

My cobbler did mention that the style of the heal on the indy's would be a pain to fix if I ever did wear into the stack due to the angles of each piece and how the stack is made.

did anyone on SF buy a pair of these? I love 50's split toe shoes and would love to see pictures and hear how these fit. I understand the plaza can be a little cramped in the toe box. And if anyone has a pair in 8d or e (or 7.5e) that they'd consider selling, please let me know. thanks

anyone on here have a pair of the LSxSF collab in size 8 they want to sell me? I read about it on some old posts here like last year. I love the shoe. Here's a pic:

Would you settle for the cap-toe version? Leather Soul Hawaii just re-stocked their cap-toe dress boot which is built on the same plaza last as the LSxSF collaboration and in the same shell cord color 8.

rule of thumb

plaza = 1/2 size up from tru-balance and barrie

I have the Barrie lasted Plain Toe Boots (PTB) in shell cord, color 8 and think they are great. See link:

http://www.leathersoulhawaii.com/200...hell-cordovan/

I wear mostly jeans to semi-casual trousers with those boots.

I wear a 9D in both the Barrie and Trubulance Alden lasts, and a 9 to 9.5 D in the Plaza lasts. Keep in mind that the Plaza last is almost as long as the Barrie/Trubulance, so going up half a size is not always correct. I strongly suggest that you should try them on if you can find a store that carry Aldens with those lasts.

I just noticed that you're from NYC. "Citi Shoes" carries Alden's in several lasts including the ones mentioned above. They are located on 445 Park Ave between 57th and 56th Street. Here's their link: http://www.citishoes.com/

Good luck.

Does anybody know if the Alden shop in DC carries the Plaza George Boot or if it's sold exclusively at Leather Soul?
theshoemart.com has the George boot in #8 cordovan.
They don't say what last it's on though.

RBNY.... so your plaza size is the same as your trubalance or 1/2 size larger? you say 9 to 9.5, but there is no in between. i wear 7.5D in indy which is perfect....i have 8 in leydon (1 cm too long but still a good fit). I will try to get to citishoes but my schedule usually doesn't permit.

Been wearing my black cordovan captoe bluchers, in the aberdeen last. 2160s.
I have a pair of Alden of Carmel shell cord NST bluchers in the plaza last that fits me well sized at 9D. But I also have a pair of Alden 935 plain toe balmorals in the plaza last that fits me welll at 9.5 D. Again, the plaza last can be tricky to fit some people. As mentioned before, the plaza last is almost as long as the barrie last but has less volume and not as wide. I know someone that consistently wears a 8.5 D in barrie lasted Alden shoes yet wears an 8.5E or a 9D in the plaza last. Like I said you really need to try the plaza last. For me, leydon's are easier to fit since I'm consistently a 9.5D and I'm consistently a 9D in the barrie and trubulance.

I'm planning to try on hampton lasted shoes since I really like the shape sometime this week and get back to you on that.
