I once had a pair that was somewhere between eggplant and Barney purple! Thankfully it's gotten less vibrant over time. (So much so that I don't even remember which pair it was now!)

I've had #8 age to almost cigar shell-looking, but with a tint of red to it. I've also had cigar shell lighten up significantly, though so far never quite whiskey colored.

This is a pretty noob question -- so please bear with me. I have a 10.5 in a pair of AldenxEpaulet Brixton Boots on the barrie last and I thought they fit me pretty well, but I can still slide my foot around when flat on the ground a little bit. Is this normal?

Since it's a higher shoe, the heel slip is minimal when laced all the way up, but since I'm planning on purchasing other shoes I thought I'd inquire as to how they're supposed to fit. Is it supposed to be snug everywhere? Or is a little bit of slip pretty normal?

TIA

All of mine (405, #8, cigar, whiskey) are all the same normal stitch.

My understanding is that there are only 5 ladies at Alden that can do it, so it's a throughput issue.

yes,it was because i saw the cigar indy was using Handsewn on front stitch in the photo...

Good eye Edmond!

Alden decided to handsew my recent batch of #8 Indys as well. Sometimes it seems like they just feel like handsewing certain batches.

it's a funny case

when your no.8 indy release?

How does one identify handsewn versus machine?
if i understand what edmond is pointing out is the front / top stitching on the front of the boot. i had actually mentioned to steven at Leffot that it was more raised than my other indys which i am guessing indicates hand stitching? is that correct edmond or tom? thanks
post #2847 of 122416
Yes that's also the only difference I noticed, the stitching on the vamp is slightly raised.
you are correct.the cigar indy is using hand stitching on the vamp this time.just like the nst and lhs shoes.
