I'm not going to rant here (candidly, I think I sold 2, maybe 3 pairs of shoes on the thread) and I don't want this to be fodder for the conspiracy theorists (eBay isn't taking over the internet...) but instead it is a warning, they are policing the posts so if you rely on B&S don't get tripped up like I did.

did the buyer report you for asking for 4% on top or did they just monitor your back and forth through pms?

edit: ive done this in the past so need to stop/change my listings to incorporate the fees now frown.gif

There was no buyer, the listing was up for about 2 hours and then I all of a sudden I couldn't access it (it is still up but marked closed). Maybe I was reported (I've been known to piss off the occasional individual from time to time...) but I don't think so. I believe that the mod read my post and all of a sudden it's NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Ridiculous rule - all it does is make the item more expensive for the buyer (which means that less items - used and new - are sold), it isn't a revenue generator.

LA Guy issued a 12 hr warning here

I just donate my cast offs. More fodder for the thrift thread.

Do any of you know if the captoe is all eyelet as well? Thats really a make or break detail for me...

Aren't you on the Epaulet Ravello Brixon preorder? I think the #4 and the Ravello are very close in color. I don't think I would want both boots.

Seems that people are getting banned for stating the 4% up charge in their listing... But what if buyer and seller agree to gift through pms?

I assume this is still against PayPal/Fok's policies?

Yes, it is. You can advertise a cash discount but you can't charge extra for PayPal. This is a rule that's been in effect for a long time. Calling it a "gift" transaction when it's a sale is simply wrong. Those are the terms of service. If you don't like it, choose an alternative.

This - there are a few links to the MC and SW&D versions of the discussion - by making it a simple "money transfer" or "gift" payment and then exchanging goods, somehow you're breaking Paypal's rules and making SF vulnerable to legal action.

That's why I've started asking for shipping and handling in my listings. Buyer will figure it out when he PMs me smile.gif

Read through Fok's comments again. I think he basically doesn't want Paypal coming after SF, and while it is still against paypal policy to ask, SF won't get mad at you as long as it isn't advertised publicly.

Quick question, how many of you guys are using heel grips or tongue pads in your shell shoes?

Most of my shoes have a heel grip on the right shoe and tongue pads in both as I have low volume feet (with the right being the smaller foot of the two) - I'm a bit hesitant about dropping 'sticky' pads into my new Ravello Shortwings though...

Finally, Uncle - could elaborate on the break in process? smile.gif

So to the posters saying that it would be ok to advertise their B&S here, just a heads up

well thats a stupid/easy way to get around it. why are people asking for 4% publicly in their sales thread in the first place then?

or people can just use alternatives like google checkout or amazon web pay or chase or visa or any other competitor to paypal lol
