I realize that the supply of whiskey and ravello shell are limited. I think it's 500 hides for 1 that are made into whiskey. Nothing wrong in trying influence a retailer to do a makeup that we are interested in. If Tom is willing to do another SF special I'd be in.

Here's how: Last week I was speaking to Kathy and she asked what special make-ups would be on my wish list. I mentioned a Whiskey Indy/commando sole.

So, I posted the thought here and asked if anyone had interest, and if they did, then to call Kathy and express that interest in the hopes of getting this boot made up.

Question for anyone that jumped on the Blackbird pre-order for the "Alden Summer Shoe". I ordered a pair in the reverse tobacco and thought I remember Blackbird saying they were expected in April and here we are in June. I know that they are at the mercy of Alden but...
So the question is, does anyone know anything about the delivery on these? All I've received from my inquiries is the same not in yet response.

Not to beat a dead horse over quality control issues, but I noticed this on one of the blogs. I'm beginning to think I'm insane because I continue buying Aldens even though they keep letting defects like this reach their retailers. How does the person doing the hand sewing not toss this in the 2nds pile?

I wonder if that was a Photoshop error, because that imperfection isn't in any of the other pictures in that blog entry.

That actually looks like a bad photoshop touch up job, not a defect on the shoe.

Anyways, if you want absolutely perfectly made shoes Alden is probably not for you.
