The sun is shining in San Francisco today. I love you Alden and Horween. Thank you for making the perfect shoe/boot.

Edit: the thing that the guy at Alden NY said was that the barrie was a very long last, which gives reason for the full size down.

thanks for the sizing advice. i'm really hoping the 7D barrie fits as these blue suede lwb's will be perfect to wear from now til early fall. it would be a shame to send them back since it looks like most sizes have sold out (including 7.5D).

for sizing comparison w/o socks, i have quoddy canoe suede boat shoes in 7D and they fit perfectly.

Good luck and keep plato's advice in mind as I think it is important to note the shape and size of your foot. Like him, I believe my feet are slightly wide and perhaps that is why we can bump down a full size on the Barrie.

For what it's worth, I'm an 11.5E in the Allen Edmonds 5 last and a 10.5D in the Barrie fits me perfectly.

I can easily fit into 6.5D or 6E. Bad news is I can find more shoes to end up buying

Plus you can always use the, "He'll wear these one day," line as well.

As a Caps fan, this should be a great series, though not so great as our last one.

so uh, I purchased a pair of 403's last year. Before the end of my first year with the boots, the left showed obvious signs of defect. I sent them back to the place of purchase to have them repaired by Alden..

My Indys derailed into a train wreck in Indiana.. Strange or what?

If I may digress from the Alden theme briefly in reference to .field's post:

I was purchasing a new car in 2002 from an adjacent state.  The model I wanted was not available, but the dealer put me on the wait list and asked for a deposit.  I sent a cashier's check by express mail (USPS).  The short story, the check didn't get delivered even though USPS tracking system said it was.  90 days later, the dealer calls me to say he got the check.  The express envelope was transferred to a contract carrier for delivery.  The contract carrier gets into an accident.  The driver is hospitalized.  The truck is towed, totaled, and sold at auction.  The winning bidder tows the truck to his scrap yard, opens the truck, finds it full of packages, and calls the Post Office.  Post Office delivered the parcels.

True story.  So, no, a train derailment seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I've had ups packages be delayed due to train derailment a few times.

I have some Indy in Whiskey, Ultimate, Snuff Suede and the Cigar Leffot and was thinking of unloading my Cigar so I can acquire a Whiskey LWB.

My wife won't let me buy a new shoe this year since I max out on my shoe allowance, what do you guys think..Is it worth the switch as I wear jeans a lot and trying to convince myself to get the LWB for a nice change.

PM me if interested in the Leffot Indy 8.5D
