Great shoes, and a terrific combo with those trousers and socks. The original pics on LS didn't excite me, but looking at these shots I'm changing my mind.

Ok, only have money for one pair of shoes right now and I love the navy suede ptb's. Could these be worn with a suit in a non-business setting?

I'm trying to justify buying these when I really don't actually need them. Haha.

What setting? What suit? Generically, yes you can wear them with a suit, but it's a particular "look" - kind of louche. Think Luca Rubinacci (google him if you don't hang in MC much). Can you carry off that look (meaning would you look comfortable dressed that way)? Is that look appropriate in the setting that you're thinking of? I wouldn't wear the combo to a funeral, for example.

99.9% of the time would be just sw&d, but I was thinking about trying these with a suit at a friend's casual spring wedding. Not sure what color suit to try it with either. I think I'm going to nix the idea. Again, just trying to convince myself I could use these for other purposes since I don't really need another casual shoe.

I think they'd look very sharp with a light grey suit at a casual spring wedding. They also are very nice shoes for everyday wear with dark jeans or khakis, or even sock-less with shorts.

+1 Buy them if you like them - they would look great with a lighter suit that you would wear with to a casual wedding.

Unfortunately the closest I have is a charcoal worsted which I fear may be too dark.

i've got a couple pairs of aldens now and i fully understand why they have the following they do. now allen edmonds and related brands seem much closer to cheap **** like bass or bostonian than what's in their price range. 325 msrp for their calf **** is what they should be asking for their cordo, construction does not even hold a candle to alden.
