They have been brushed but have never had any wax or paste applied. It wasn't until a couple of years ago when I started looking for new boots and wondered what Shell was all about that I realized that I had a pair of shell and their condition and attractiveness convinced me that shell was worth the $$...and now several $k later...I am a goober posting pics of my shoes on the internet :slayer:

Every time I see a real life picture of this model I really like it. I think they're not very popular because Alden's stock photo really doesn't do the shoes justice.

Boy, those shoes are almost as old as I am!

just curious to know if you recall the price of them back in the day?

It seems Alden raises price yearly. Some places sell shell boots for over $700 now.

LS... I was fortunate since I didn't per-order but they had a pair in my size in stock.

Just got my first pair of indy 403's today from a shop near me. Wow these boots are amazing and i got them for a good price $435. I'm glad I was able to find a shop to try these on. These fit true to size for me and i was surprised with that since all the advise to size down a 1/2 size would have been too tight for me.

my guess is in inflation adjusted $'s the price isn't THAT different from what it is now.

In the 1950s a pair do shell cordovan 975s sold for $25.

In say 50 years from now it will sell for $19,600...
