I made the mistake of trying them on - I don’t know why I just fell in love with them. They really are a stunning shoe in person. I REPENT!

Quick hotel shot of new #8 LWB. Same size and last as the Ravello PTB I posted previously, but these are even more comfortable. Incredible, right out of the box! OTOH, may not be the best jeans for them, but I couldn't resist a quick photo while performing the Mac break-in method.

Simplistic does not mean simple, it is a rather unflattering term meaning oversimplified. Surely there is nothing oversimplified about the Alden PTB (on the berrie last...)

^^ Yes, you are in Japan ... you should be sporting a pair of nice crispy and dark raw selvedge denim.
But if you plan to cuff, avoid orange-line selvedge ... poor combination with #8 from my personal experience.

Thanks for the tip. That sounds like good advice.

Wow, that does look quite worrisome.
I caused the same issue (albeit on much smaller area) on my 975 by using my finger nail to knock off a peice of lint that was stuck on the surface. The thin, glossy finish flaked off the surface with the lint, revealing a dull underlayer.
I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

Here's what AoC has to say "Often on new shell cordovan shoes, a white, waxy substance will form. This is also normal; the residue from the tanning of the leather. To remove the white wax, simply wipe off with a paper towel. To remove the wax in difficult areas, such as between stitches, use a toothbrush." It's just a by product of the tanning process no? Since it's stuffed with so many oils right?
Here's the link: http://www.alden-of-carmel.com/index.cfm/care_of_shell_cordovan.htm

Yeah... I don't think it's blooming. There is a layer of finish that has peeled off completely and there is a difference in finish between the two leathers. The spots where things have flaked off are noticeably more matte and a darker color.

Turns out their online inventory is not up to date. They just cancelled my order. What a Frans Boondoggle. I'm pissed.

I ultimately canceled my order for the new LSxSE boots - I wanted to love them but just couldn't - so, if anyone is looking for a size 9D, give Tom a call -

for what it's worth, I instead picked up the Alden x Epaulet Black and Tan Indys, brand new in the box (!), off Ebay
