i am jealous. what a beautiful day. btw, is it possible to remove the stiching on the INDY or on an NST? i know once you remove the stitching you'll have holes, but will the leather smooth out over time?

Just ordered a pair of the black PTBs on the AOSF specials page. I figure it is a good way to try the Leydon last before ordering something more pricey. Also, it is a decent, basic work shoe at a decent price.

So I'm looking for some Ravello LWBs, and looks like I've missed my chance for quite some time with Leffot. AoC carries them, but with a crepe sole. I was really hoping for a leather sole. Since these will mostly be worn casually for the next two years, I suppose crepe will do. But in the future, if I'm not a fan, an a cobbler put on leather for me?

1) A cobbler can put a leather sole on it
2) Call the Alden branded stores, they likely stock ravello longwings regularly

It's going to look like total shit. You're going to ruin the shoe. Either sell them and get what you want, or live with it.

Repeated coats of wax polish should darken the stitching itself

I don't quite understand this statement... shell is by its very nature a "beater" material ... I'd pretty much take any pair of my shells in any place and not sweat it one bit. Am also adding a nice pair of no 8 shell Indys to the collection that will arrive Monday from NRO ... can't wait to start beatin' on those as well

Way to go! Good to see you wearing your boots like boots. Wear the crap out of 'em. Some Reno, the spoon trick, and a bit of colored wax will do wonders for the scuffs and gouges.
