uncle mac, how does your ravello look so light in this picture? is this due to the aging process? I would love for mine to look like that

I figured this was as good a time as any to stop lurking and start posting...

I just took delivery on these and they sure look and feel like Barrie, even from the top-down photos on the J. Crew site compared with the roughed out chukka. I haven't been able to wear them outside yet, but I was able to get my feet into them comfortably, which was nearly impossible on the stock 1493. I'm a 13D on the Barrie and I need all the extra space, so for Leydon I'd probably need a 14D. I squished into a 13 E or EE at Madison Ave. once but it was a no go... I asked them about ordering special sizes on stock shoes and they looked at me like I had five heads. Anyone have any experience at any stores getting non-stock sizes on stock shoes (not really MTO)?

I have what I believe to be those very same shoes, from Madison Ave. Although the saddle looks black there whereas mine are definitely #8. I can't recommend the shoe enough. While there's really no getting around my aforementioned big blobby feet, I feel as if shoes in particular are the sleekest of my Barrie-lasted shoes. I think it has to do with the welt and the balmoral front... much different than the LWB in the same size/last combination.

Leffot's saddles are badass too, Steven had them on last time I was there.

I had the Shoe Mart ship directly to B. Nelson, having already alerted Nick to look out for them. Once they got there, it did not take long for them to do the work. There was a little delay while waiting for a new shipment of Dainite soles from England, but that isn't really an issue with B. Nelson. I found that Nick was very helpful, and he seems to be fairly knowledgeable. And in the end the quality of the work appears to be excellent. They've done two re-soles for me now and I would be very likely to go back. I think that if you are investing in nice shoes you want to make sure that they are in capable hands.

Curious if you've considered having the work done by Shoe Healer.
Anyway, I like how they turned out.

I wouldn't mind finding a really good cobbler in the San Francisco Bay Area if anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it.

Really nice looking whiskey chukkas. They look great with those jeans. Which jeans are those. Like the fit.

Thanks. Jeans are Imogene + Willie Bartons. Shot not really designed to highlight them, though. They are slim and straight. That's for sure. Nice shop, too. Visited when I was in Nashville in the fall. No Aldens there....

Huh, thought they looked like they could be shell, but since other colors were clearly calf and were still $300 I was thrown off. Guess they're just marking up the calf to match the shell, eh?

my J. Crew Indy's back in after a long day's work.
