I agree, I got the same boots (basically) from jcrew during their pre-holiday 30% off deal. Mine ended up being $352 which seemed like a pretty good deal. They are comfortable and look pretty good at work ( I can dress casual all day long....). I haven't had the tongue issue although I don't pay much attention once I put them on....

one issue with these is the tongue tends to slide slightly (shoe on the left). this can be remedy by not tightening the laces too much. very happy with this purchase and the compliments that I've received.

For all you Alden fans out there, a quick question.  I purchased a pair of Alden split toe cordovan loafers (style 1030) a few weeks back and I'm having some sizing issues.  The shoe is on the Grant last, which seems to be one of their less common.  The salesperson at the Alden on Madison (NYC) store put me in a pair of 11.5 C, which seemed to fit perfectly at first.  I've worn them about 10 times now and I feel some pressure around the ball of my foot and on the outside of my smallest two toes.  I think the width is correct as I can move my foot left and right a bit inside the shoe, but I feel it may just be a little on the short side.  I would like to order another pair (mine are color #8 and I would like a black pair, as well), but I can't decide if I should go up to a 12 C.  I definitely think I need a little more room in the toe area, but I'm concerned that there will be too much heel slip considering the 11.5 shoe already allows some slip.  I went to a local store that sells Aldens (Sherman Bros.), but none on the Grant last.  I tried on the tassel moc (style 563) on the Aberdeen last and the 12 C fit perfect.  The salesperson there seems to think it has to do with my toes measuring a 11.5 but the ball of my foot measuring a 12.  Any thoughts on sizing similarities between the Grant and Aberdeen lasts?

I stopped by there when the rumor first came up, none of the guys heard of a ravello boot arriving there anytime soon. Honestly I doubt Alden would allocate J Crew enough ravello for it to make sense.

You never know. J. Crew is probably a big buyer.

that's why it wouldn't work. J. Crew is far too big to bother with anything like would be done in a small run of pieces. moreso I doubt their buyers and planners would do happy to plan something they need to wait 12+ months on to show results from

I have a product question -

I've been looking around at local cobblers and repair shops for quality products to care for both my #8 Shell Shortwings as well as my CXL Indys. Saphir isn't super common out here, and have yet to find Venetian Shoe Cream, but have found a few people that swear by "Meltonian" - any experience w/ products? Quality or not? Do I trust such boot & shoe cream on my babies? Thanks for any recommendations or info -
