agreed, even $650 for shell MTO is an awesome deal...especially considering Alden's recent price hikes. A standard #8 LWB is now around $645 at Shoemart I think.

I'd pay a premium to get a longwing on a last that doesn't have a heel the size of a softball.

I think the "right" size for me in Leydon is 0.5 up from my Barrie size. But I have found that even after I size up the Leydon last is too narrow for me. I don't think I can wear it. But it works for some.

Thanks for finding that. Looks like $640, which isn't bad.

Hi ogcr,

i am also between UK 10,5 > 11 depending on the width/last.

The insole of my brown CXL Indy 405 from JCrew in size US 11 B/D measures 30,5 cm = 12 inches.

Many of AoC's offerings (all those with the AF designation as I understand it) are special makeups. Commando sole seems to be one of the main differences. Though, for another example, I don't believe you can get the plain toe boot on the Trubalance last that I just picked up anywhere else, period. Otherwise, I suppose he's charging what he thinks he can for them.

This has been something I've thought about. I actually feel like I fit 11D Barrie pretty well because my feet are on the wide end of D. Considering the fact that Barrie and Trubalance are the largest volume Alden lasts, I'm definitely only buying other lasts once I've had a chance to try them on in person. Hoping to get into an Alden store soon to do this, though my current state of ignorance is certainly better for my wallet. I'd say there are another half-dozen or so Aldens I can really, um, use.smile.gif

My Nike and all other sneakers size is 10.5 US (9.5UK), and I wear 9E in Indy boots and other Alden in Trubalance and Barrie last. Hope this helps smile.gif

To be fair, Adam has extremely high standards on shoes that he considers firsts quality. I got a pair of what he deemed as "seconds" that were in much better shape than some of the QC issue shoes i've seen in this thread.
