And to answer your question, definitely go with the double leather sole.

yeah i know its sold out and there is no plan of restocking anytime soon. I was asking because Leffot is doing an order of whiskey indys but they have commando soles. to me it just seems odd looking in my head

Hey randomkoreandude, did you mean the Cigar Indy re-order at Leffot? I dunno, I'm kinda digging the commando sole. I've got a pair of Ultimate Indy's and they are friggin sweet!

I image searched for cigar shell boots and just looking at the wear and tear people put it through, I feel like the commando sole would suit it just fine. Unless of course you're looking to treat it more as a dress boot...

you know what, i dont know what i was thinking. these are cigar shell. so i guess the commando sole does look good from that gallery of pics. for some reason i thought the preorder was whiskey and i didnt think whiskey would look good with that sole.

now i dont mind it as much. haha thanks man

For what it's worth, I got in on the cigar indy/commando order. I'll post pics when I get them in a few months....really excited about them.

i want in on those cigar shell cordovan Indy's but I recently spend all my money on the Leathersoul Jumper boots. It hurts to have a boots fetish

I've not had this problem at all.

amazing, in only a short time the leather evolved into a nice 'vintage' patina color/shape

dont you guys think whiskey (since the color makes it seem dressier) would look weird with commando sole?

As stated I think the Whiskey one is sold out. I think they sold fast. But here is an interesting thread:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...highlight=indy

Look at the post by zippyh. He says that if he had one he would prob go with the Ultimate Indy. Now that is just this one post but he certainly has them all. I would consider a #8 Shell from the aged pictures I have seen of them but the Whisky is VERY nice.

My own opinion would be that if I am spending $650 on a pair of Whiskey Shell I would rather get the Whiskey Long Wings if I could find them. You can certainly wear those with jeans. I am big into cigar shell but if you are on a budget the Ralph Lauren Darlton on sale is a great and versatile shoe. I have a pair I use as my beater shoe with jeans.

wow these put mine to shame!

i cant believe he has that sheen/shiny effect without any cream or polish. i feel like most of hte pics ive seen, mine included make them look dull at least from pics and not necessarily real life

I guarantee that those shoes will be nasty and almost unwearable in another month or so. Shoes are not raw denim. They need a day or two between wearing (preferably with shoe trees) to limit moisture.

Seeing this actually makes me a little happy that I didn't spring for these the first time around (and I was close). I'm really surprised to see them looking this worn after only a month.

So, in Chicago, Hanig's is the only game in town for Alden, right? Can I count on them to stock all of the various widths, or at the very least, give me an accurate measurement of my Alden size? I'm somewhere between a D and an EE depending on the brand (so I'm probably an E, I guess), which matters less for a $50 pair of Top-Siders than a $400 boot.
