def 403 i think...no?

going back a few, does anyone have pics of the natural chromexcel LHS in the wild? the shoe mart's sole is not my ideal make up, but would probably just replace that whole operation if they were acquired.

any thoughts on this from anyone? I've seen 3 or 4 posts about people buying it, but not much about how it actually works/performs

The previous owner appears to have used polish, especially across the top of the shoe (although luckily not over the toes) resulting in a grimy/crusty black-ish substance in the creases of the shoes. I was able to rub a decent amount out with my fingers, but you can still detect the immediate difference in texture between the nicer sections, and the creases.

I found this restoration experiment where a guy got a pair of shells off ebay for $20 bucks, completely tattered and probably beyond hope of repair, and Alden still worked them into a beautiful shoe. I might be considering this for my 974s should local cobblers not be able to work some initial magic. Apparently the process is not just a resoling, but a complete overhaul of the shoe.

Oh, and thanks too for the deer bone video pages back. Great fun. Wish there was ANYONE as knowledgable on shell care between SLC and Vegas.

What is it that your trying to do exactly? Restore the uppers or the entire shoe (soles, welt, etc)? Oddy enough I also purchased a pair of 974s of eBay and I lucked out because they were in awesome shape, and the heel had just been replaced with a cat paw (or was this standard)? The pair also had the original pair of round waxed laces that are stiff like copper.

My pair was "restored" using the Mac method + deer bone. The uppers looks great. Fortunately the soles and insoles are like new so I didn't bother do muh besides applying some sole edge dressing.

Note: the color on this pair is really light for #8. Almost like #4. I should wear this pair more often. Nice shoe.

Btw, I'm at the Vegas airport waiting for my connection to Boise and this is simply torture. I want to NOT go to Boise and hang out in Vegas instead smile.gif

Looks like someone just had a kid (or went bankrupt).

Since we're on the ebay topic, here's the pair of #8 medallion cap toes I picked up off of eBay, after a good hour of mac method-ing:

Lighting on my balcony isn't the best with a tree hanging over it. Also, still having trouble getting some of the buildup in the creases out, but that could just be because I need to flatten them down before I brush or something. It's way less noticeable when they're not in direct sunlight.

You did a good job on the medaillon area - ellbow grease may not be enough i guess - you need something more magic than a deer bone devil.gif for shure biggrin.gif
