Just want to chime in on the Boots with the hooks...hate em...feel it relegates them to casual wear only...I wish more people made the officer boot style with all holes for lacing. I know Epaulet has a cigar shell Indy like that now, and that will be my next Alden once I find another boot in cigar, ravello, or whiskey thats a touch more dressy.
Ok, about to pull the trigger on a pair of wingtip boots but I want them to be versatile (i.e. wear casual but also with dress pants and a suit). For those with a commando sole, can this be done or are commando sole shoes primarily for casual looks?
Are there any examples of what a #8 shoe (any model) looks like with the antique edge trim? Only dark leather I've seen this on is cigar, which looks great, but that's not a very good comparison.
For all-around wear I'd get the leather sole or at least the waterlock. Commandos with a suit seem like early punk..
