Just some anecdata on Indy boot sizing (and a chance to show off my new boots) - I measure 12D on a brannock device and wear 12D in all of the Allen-Edmonds I've ever tried on, but I have a pretty high instep. My running/cycling shoes are all over the map because of it - from 12E to 12.5D to 13D. I knew I needed these in 11.5 for length, but I couldn't decide what width. Jason posted that his Indy boots are E width because of his high instep, so I decided to go with that. Perfect. Super-comfy, straight out of the box. (Unfortunately, I have to wait a couple days before I *really* get to wear them, because I'm having a local cobbler put on a Vibram half-sole.)

There could be an investment opportunity here. The Cordovan Fund. We all chip in an buy 100 pairs of #8 longwings, then sell them at a huge profit (BNIB) in 10 years.

Just sayin Shoemart has a Barrie scotch grain wingtip boot if you're into that kind of thing. http://www.theshoemart.com/alden-men..._calfskin.html Otherwise enjoy. Cigar lwb is on my lifetime list of Aldens to kop.

Almost got these from Shoemart but then got the Epaulet ravello wingtip boot instead. HARD decision to make, these look fantastic. Also, the Aberdeen last is great for those of us with D-width feet (apparently I actually take a 10C in Trubalance, as if you've ever seen that before).

Hey styleforum members!

I just received my first pair of Aldens, the J Crew edition Indys. One of the shoes arrived scuffed, as seen in the following pics.

I tried to buff it out with a cloth and leather brush but it had no effect. Would you keep these or return them? It's going to cost me ~$15 or so to return them and reorder them. Is it typical for them to arrive with some imperfections?

^ The shoe is handmade, but that's beyond the pale. Tell J Crew this happened and they should let you ship back for free and exchange.

EDIT: EXCUSE ME it's NOT handmade. It's machine made. MY BAD. George Cleverly's ghost was angry there for a sec.
