The flex welt sole really is quite comfortable however I wouldn't want to do a lot of walking on it as you can feel every little pebble or rock you step on.

That's what I thought... I find the double oak leather sole to be fine for walking, and would rather not feel every little bump in the sidewalk.

Flex is very comfortable right out of the box whereas double leather takes a little time

The single flex sole and the double oak soles are really not for the same shoes at all. at least for me,  one is comfortable, lives indoors, and seems never to wear out and the other belongs on shoes that will live in various wet weather conditions, rough surfaces and not even notice it.

I am still wondering what to do about the suede. they're not roughed-out tobacco, they're brown suede which seems to give me options about what it will eventually look like, but also makes me nervous.

To the members with large amounts of Aldens, or shoes in general...how big is your closet? I recently turned the place I stored my DVDs into a shoe piece, haha. My closet is filled to the max. shog[1].gif

pics! I use a 6'x3' book shelf and its full from top to bottom. Holds between 25-35 pairs

Hmmm... seem to have missed the Plaza monkstrap. These special makeups are rather ephemeral. Upside is that I think they have spoiled me for the monkstrap on the Aberdeen, so I'll just wait now. And at least I can look forward to Whiskey LWBs arriving this week. There's that and then there's the fact that I probably would have had a hard time explaining to the wife the monks on top of the LWBs in such short order...

Dude, it holds 4 pairs. shog[1].gif It's suppose to be a bookshelf I think, it's probably 3' long and 2' high. I bought it to hold my DVDs, but I had to 'remodeled'. There are 4 cubicles in the structure, I have 1 pair of shoes in one cubicle, and 3 pairs are on order. So at this point, I have no more room for shoes. frown.gif Good shoes in my bedroom, and rugged shoes downstairs.

If I had a spare bedroom, I would fill all 4 walls with bookshelf and use them as a shoe storage.
