Tom's make up is a good option.

Does anyone have any pics of the #8 plain toe boots on the plaza last (with a commando sole) that J Gilbert after some wear? They look great but I'd like to see how they break in if I can.

I'll be fucked before I go through this whole thread looking for an answer, so apologies in advance if this has been answered: Where2kop more durable laces for Indy boots? Alden's stock laces blow goats.

I've got three pairs from here for uses with 405s and other Alden boots and have had no issues at all:

http://www.shoelacesexpress.com/

Dark Brown Square Leather Laces 72 inch
Medium Brown Square Leather Laces 72 inch
Medium Brown Round Leather Laces 54 inch

I use the medium brown round leather laces 54" on my 405s and have had them on for about 1.5 years (applying mink oil whenever I oil the boots themselves) and will probably swap them out at about two years as they are starting to fray and I'd rather nip changing them in the bud than have them break while on the road or something.

The 72" laces require you to loop them around your ankle before tying, and the 54" you can just lace right up as usual.

Does anybody know if LeatherSoul marks down the value on international packages?

When I bought my Indy's from them Bryson told me they were unable to do that for me.
So I got nailed with shipping costs from Hawaii to Toronto.

54" Kiwi laces work great but do not look as nice. They are made of nylon and round so they are pretty much indestructible. I have a pair of brown suede boots that I put some kiwi laces like this on.

I have not worn them yet but I think it looks good for a change. I am not home but here is a picture of the boots with the laces they came with.

I have the round black nylon laces for my black shell boots and they have been great for several months. No fraying whatsoever. I am looking for a 54" dark brown nylon laces for my Leather Soul Ultimate Indy's. Military boots have a different speed hook system than the Alden's and use nylon laces and my boots have the original laces after over 20+ years.

I just wish Tom would sell like a 10 pack of Alden laces because they look much better than the round laces but never last.

Unionmade

Has been available at Leffot

Ahab, it is not fair to post that pic. I missed out on getting in on the pre-order from Leffot and am hoping that TOm puts them on a pre-order in the near future. It is the last shoe I want in my little collection.

Yea, it's a nice makeup. I believe that picture was from Winn Perry's run.

Go to a cobbler. I get "bulldog" laces, braided round, and they look good and are strong. And I get 45", so the laces don't flop like drunken bunny ears all over my nice boots.

I use Doc Martin laces. They hold up quite well.
