Dear Mr. XX:

Thank you for your message and the accompanying photos. We agree that the repair work on these boots is not up to standard. That is the result of some miscommunication between us and The Shoe Mart. I have spoken with Ed Zapatka at The Shoe Mart and am copying him on this message. If you return the boots to his attention, he will be happy to issue a refund.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Alden Shoe Co

At least they're willing to work with you. Ed and Joe are great fellows.

Are those Day Trippers? Big win. I'm anticipating the Grant last boots I ordered. I have given up on the Barrie.

I don't want to be a downer, but I'm not sure what sort of "miscommunication" would result in that shitty repair. "Hey Alden, I really hate this guy, please do a shitty job. Ed." Only to find out "oops sorry I didn't actually want you to do shitty job! That guy is actually sort of cool. Sorry for the miscommunication."

Was such a sexy boot; grant last, black shell, double leather, metal eyelets. Such great combo. confused.gif

nephew,
consider black cap toe

Thanks for the heads-up Zippyh about the slippery crepe soles. I haven't had that problem yet, but guess I'll find out this winter. They are super comfy though.

I have almost busted my butt a few times walking downhill on slick sidewalks with the double leather soles on my Color 8 LWBs. Even though they are more stylish than the crepe, I will not wear them in the rain anymore.

Actually I'm currently selling the same Blackbird black shell cordovan boot that HorseHide describes, but in an 8D.

Oooof im reconsidering the plaza last. It's hard to properly size this last. TTS feels big but half size down and it's tight. I tried on an E width but i don't like the look. I then went tts and narrowed down to a C width but the boot feels a touch long and the small toes are scrunched. To sum it up, plaza last is a tad voluminous for me for me a hard to size. Any insight would be appreciated
