^ First, you don't see the edge trim (unless you turn your shoe sideways) so the contrast is lost on you. Second, it doesn't look "complete" to me - it's as though Alden decided to switch how they finished the shoe half way through. Just my two cents....

^agreed. I talked to b nelson about this and you have to change the welt color as well to get the contrast.

Those are the most tempting of the Loden collection, to me.

HorseHide, I agree that the latest cigar makeups are very, very dark. About 3 years ago I saw cigar shell PTB and chukkas at the San Francisco Alden shop that were the color of milk chocolate, with maybe a slight olive hue. I just bought a pair of cigar LWBs from Alden of Carmel and they look like dark chocolate, close to #8. I prefer it, actually - I know they'll lighten with age, and I'd rather they develop a deep brown patina than a mid-brown or olive color.

As for black shell, the only shoe that's even remotely tempted me was the Black Fleece longwing on the Grant last. It's a beautiful shoe.

Funny you should mention that. I sent a pair of boots with a torn eyelet in for recrafting in early June and am still waiting for them to come back to me. I was wondering what the holdup was, and from what I've been told, the repair process for a torn eyelet is quite involved

FML thats what i was afraid of ... this is why boots with metal eyelets are better. my cigar indy's from leffot have a torn eyelet frown.gif
