you can google pics of wingtip grant last shoes. leathersoul did one a few years back that looked really nice. brooks brothers shell longwings were also on the grant.

Marg, that is exactly the boot I have been pushing for on the MTO list. I would be all over a shortwing boot on the grant or plaza last in either ravello/cigar/whiskey. Let's revive that thread and see if we can get a consensus on that. I am happy to go along with any of those on a non-Barrie/trubalance last.

That being said, if everything was on the Aberdeen and Grant lasts, I'd be a happy camper.

gfreeman, this has been my quest for ages. Join the club. As was mentioned, BB does their longwings on the Grant, but they're most often offered in calf (especially black pebble grain). The only shell shade I've seen of theirs has been black.

(Also FYI Epaulet does their suede and natural chromexcel longwings on the Leydon.)

Yeah, I like the natural Chromexcel longwings, but I really want something on non-black shell.

I wonder if we could get a group order for the LWB on some other last. If we get enough people, maybe we could have the fee waved. If we can agree on a last I like, I would probably be in for a pair in #8.

I'd be in for a possible group order of a shell longwing on a non-Barrie last in the future, if possible and if there was enough interest. I'd like cigar, but I'm open to other shell colors (that aren't black).

I have some boots on special order through J-Gilbert and they didn't pass inspection (after i preordered them 8 months ago) and it will be another 4 months at least before i can get them. Thankfully they bumped my order to the front of the line otherwise it would have been ANOTHER 8 months...

The reason I order so many shoes on the Barrie is the opposite of your experience with it...because it fits the general masses more than any other last. Also, because the Barrie is Alden's most "iconic" last, with tremendous name recognition with my customers. It's very true though, if you have narrow heels, the Barrie could end up not fitting well.

The Hampton is also a great fitting last but not many of my customers know of the Hampton.

As far as the Leydon, the fit is similar to the Barrie in my opinion, just smaller. That's why it has been referred to as the "Baby Barrie" in the past.

Oh and FYI...I recently placed an order for a Plaza Longwing ala foo.gif, but opted for metal eyelets and a double waterlock sole with antique edge. I can still take preorders for it if you email our shop email directly...

No, Foo didn't order, I was just referring to Foo since he is famous for ordering that makeup.
