Yeah I found #8 PTBs worn maybe 5 times at a thrift store on long island for $10. Best feeling ever.

This is probably why the MCers love to go thrifting so much. I don't think most people know brands like Alden because they'd only look out for the typical fashion powerhouses.

On a related note, since my post earlier today, I stopped by the local Nordstrom and cleaned them out of their brushes. They just happened to have 4 in stock. Now, I have 1 forr each shade of cordovan. Also ordered the dressing from AE's site.

Just cleaned all of the cordovans. The darker hue models look better now. I haven't cleaned any of my calf models yet because they still feel soft and aren't dirty.

They're hit or miss. I've had really good service and not so good service. You should email before hand and set up a time to meet with Jim (the manager).

I'm back with more caring questions. For calf based models, how often should the shoes be cleaned? I plan to do it based on an AE video with the leather conditioner and maybe wax/paste. As always, thanks a bunch.

I'm in a bit of a tough place right now. I currently have two pairs of Aldens, a pair of chromexcel Indy boots and a pair of #8 cap toes boots on the barrie last. The cap toe boots fit me pretty good, but I find I have a small amount of heel slip with the Indys. I noticed this when I initially got them (~ one month ago), but read on Alden's website that this should diminish with time (http://www.aldenshoe.com/q1.htm). After ten or so wearings, I still find that I have to wear thick socks with them to negate this. I've been informed that both the barrie last and trubalance last run ~1/2 large, could the lack of heel slippage on my pair of #8 boots be attributed to the material they are made of?
