I think what Jason was saying is that the Balmoral boot is an English Boot and that Alden would not make a boot with an "english" aesthtic. Alden is an American company and makes boots with an "american" aesthetic (barrie last ffffuuuu.gif)

Balmoral boot on the Barrie last :P

Nicely said, Namor. That's exactly what I was trying to say!

it's not just English styles that Alden seems to resist. A year or two back there was a photo of a certain mocc toe work boot with a wedge sole that was circulating the forums and blogs. Kids were screaming for it, but Alden apparently decided not to produce that model. From what I heard, it was too "Red Wingy"

Duel purpose post...

1st) I've got a pair of longwings currently enroute from Alden of Carmel and the anticipation is killing me!

2nd) (shameless plug) To make some space for these in my closet, I currently have a pair of Shell Cordovan Norwegian Split Toes up in the B&S forum:

We have a few pairs at LSW. Email us if you're interested. Since it was an experiment, we couldn't order many. Based on the initial response we will definitely be placing a large reorder.

I'm most likely the minority, but I thought these look pretty ugly shog[1].gif

EDIT: Probably because they're two pieces, is it possible to do this one piece, or no one would be able to put their foot in afterwards (or once they're in you can't take it out...)

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could ID the last on these/ confirm they're cordovan. I picked these up at a thrift store and it seems too good to be true, but the toe wrinkling is indicative of cordo right?
As to the last, these are for BB and I read that their PTB are on the M58. Does anyone have any experience with this last? The last pic is a comparison with a LW on the Barrie.

Thanks for your help.

Agreed. I just got mine from Alden of Carmel a couple weeks ago, and they look considerably lighter. Regardless, a beautiful pair.

.

I have both of the shoes you have pictured, in different colors (My BB PTBs are in black cordovan and my LWBs are in cigar.) The brooks brothers were my first pair of cordovan "Aldens" and I ordered them online. I have a wide but flat foot so I ordered an 11.5 E. They fit really nice with socks but with bare feet they are a bit roomy. So when I ordered my pair of LWBs I ordered an 11.5 D. They fit great without socks but with...they are a bit snug. It seems that I can't win. However i have found that both lasts (M58 and barrie) are very similar.

While we are on this topic, does anyone know if Alden will recraft Brooks Brothers shoes? TheY are not branded "Alden" in any way, even though the are made by them...

Chris.
