What's the turn around time and price for a resoling now anyway? Two years ago Alden would do it for $135 + a pair of free shoe trees, does that still apply now?

Thinking about resoling my 403's after trying to get around Chicagoland last winter. Wasn't fun. Not sure about going with the full English commando sole or the half sole and ignore the heel. Anybody got any photos of their commando-soled Indys?

I went with bNelson cause i didn't want the half commando sole that Alden does. It was $155. Turnaround time is about 2-3 weeks with shipping time included. Should be here in a couple of weeks I imagine.

That having been said, if you don't want the bother, the kudu 404s come with a thick vibram sole that looks ideal for winter. Another thing to consider.

Looking sharp! Can't wait 'til the cigar arrives in the fall so I can purchase a pair of cigar PTBs

I really like the cigar PTB's. I have a pair of #8's that are beat to hell but didn't get the color fade that others have posted.

Gorgeous Cigars PorterInjax!

Does cigar lighten over time? And Ravello? I know #8 does, and IIRC Whiskey darkens...?

Cigar definitely lightens over time.

I love Cordovan but I cringe when I see the bulging wrinkles. any way to prevent that?

This thread is too long to search the whole thing.

Simple question, looking to pick up my first pair of Aldens, want the Snuff Suede Chukkas. I wear 44's in Common Projects, 11 in most snearkers, foot is probably a "true" 10. What size in the Alden Suede Chukka would I be looking at? Thanks biggrin.gif

nothing much you can do about it. i love the ripples personally!
if you stay with cordovan models that feature stitching or other details on the toe area (like wingtips, norweigans, moccs, cap toes, etc), the ripples aren't as pronounced as shoes with plain toes.

spencer-
probably 10 or 10.5. you really will have to try them on to be sure. find a store with them or order from somewhere that has a good return policy and be prepared to send shoes back and forth a couple times. there is no way to be sure without sticking both feet into the shoes and walking around the room a few times. you can make an educated guess (which you are getting now) and maybe you'll get lucky. good luck!

Not my size, but might make someone in looking for a Chukka in size 12 very happy at the price he is asking: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/clo/2532182940.html

I sized down a whole size (I'm a true ten) to a nine and they fit perfectly snug. Then again, I'm also a 42 (9) in CP's, so maybe a 10.5 would work for you. I'd say find a place and try 'em on in person.

Cigar PTBs. Shoe or boot, I'd be equally happy.

Meh, maybe I will go with the full sole after all.

Yeah the treads here don't seem to be deep enough to handle a good amount of snow. Same with the Red Wing GTs.

I got these Chippewas 25290 last year. Goodyear welted. Not Horween, but nice, durable leather. Vibram sole. Silly flag can be removed easily. Logo is all but invisible. Slathered them with Sno Seal and they worked fantastic.
