Is there a black captoe or simple perforated captoe on the barrie last?

I've tried Allen Edmonds Fifth/Park avenues but they are too cramped in the toe area... just don't work for me.
Most of the black captoe shoes I've seen in Alden are on the Aberdeen or some other last with a narrow toe =(

I. Must. Stop. Buying. Aldens.

I love both PTBs, perfect shoes to wear to relax in the Italian sun.

As long as you know that the South is the best part. The only reason the north is so much more industrialized is because during the unification they basically robbed our coffers to pay off their debts with the help of some corrupt local governments. Thats what basically enabled the Cammora and the Cosa Nostra to take off like they did and also what sparked the mass migration of Southerners all over the world. Sorry, rant over, back to shoes!

thinking about getting some regular run of the mill Indys for winter. Need something to run around in when it's snowy/slushy out.

Thoughts on the sole? I don't want to be on a pair of ice skates.

Personally, I would recommend looking for an Indy with a commando sole or even a lug sole if you are going to be in slush or snow. Anything else would probably be more slippery.

+1 The regular Indy soles can be a bit slippery.

The standard Indy sole is useless for snow. That having been said, I just sent mine off to be resoled with an English commando sole (not the thinner alden commando sole). I'll post pics when they come back.

Huge +1 on the useless sole.

What's the turn around time and price for a resoling now anyway? Two years ago Alden would do it for $135 + a pair of free shoe trees, does that still apply now?

Thinking about resoling my 403's after trying to get around Chicagoland last winter. Wasn't fun. Not sure about going with the full English commando sole or the half sole and ignore the heel. Anybody got any photos of their commando-soled Indys?

Nevermind. Found one for reference if anybody is interested:

Meh, maybe I will go with the full sole after all.
