Hi,

My regular size is 9.5 on AE, EG etc. I don't have high instep but my left foot is larger than right.

I just picked up a brown CXL captoe boot on sale from Hanigs. It is on the Barrie last. The US 9 size boot was too tight across the vamp on my left foot. As a result, I went with the 9.5 size boot. Oddly enough, 9.5 size Barrie cordovan Blucher and Wingtip shoes in the store were big for me and 9 seemed to be my size on the Barrie Blucher and wingtip shoes.

This is my first Alden purchase. Does it sound right that I picked the right size in the boot? Everyone says to go 0.5 size down on he Barrie last. I am afraid that the boot may give away in width after few wears and become loose.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What width and lasts in AE and E.G.? Did you try E width barrie? Some take Barrie tts. Are you certain that cxl boot is Barrie?

UK width D (narrow) on EG 82 last. US D width (medium) on AE Park Avenue/Fifth Avenue which I think is AE last 5.

I did not try E width Barrie. Not sure the store has it. Yes, the CXL boot is on the Barrie last. I confirmed twice. The store associate's explanation was that the Barrie shoes seen to have a high instep compared to the boot. He showed me this by placing the boot and shoes side by side which doesn't make sense because the last is the same.

Merry Xmas Eve Unc!

I am a 10C/D on the brannock...so I went with a 10D on the Aberdeen because it's the narrowest Alden last an the toe-box seemed cramped. Well...In hindsight I probably should have went a half size down and a size narrower, or even more severe! Ideally I think this loafer should teeter on the edge of 'uncomfortably tight' as to keep my heel glued to the cup.

Oddly enough a 9D on the Barrie and 9.5D on the Grant seem to fit well (boots). It's been a painful ~$2k trying to find the ideal fit when you lack an Alden stockiest within ~250mi.
