Been wearing my Alden Suedes pretty frequently.  The weather has been perfect for them.

As Repp said, there can be a difference in the comfort of the shoes, particularly if you are standing a lot.

You wouldn't need anything so robust in the city so no need for a thick chunky sole. As for comfort, I don't think there is much difference except the weight of the shoe or boot.

An exception would be say, a shoe by Vass, where an oxford might have a double sole that tapers at the waist to a single sole. I'm a fan of that style although I don't any Vass.

Thanks for the info

It's very cigar like until you hold it to the light so the Need Supply stock photos are very true. I am glad the Barrie sizing on these holds true, I sized half down. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

These are an 11 on the dopemeter. Congrats! Killer shoes at a great price.

Mac, that is classic. They were my first pair too, about 10 years after you. Then Brooks's tassel loafers, full straps, and the slippery slope to all the wonders of Alden.

A competent cobbler should be able to change them from a Single to a Double Leather sole. You may be hard pressed to find one that uses actual Alden outsoles though...
