What are those called? And is it possible to have them fitted onto my Indy's? Mine have eyelets all the way up there instead of those knob things...and lacing/unlacing just to put my Indy's on have been a pain...

They're speed lacers or boot hooks or whatever you call them. I hate them.

I've got them on my 403's, they're such a pain in the ass. Count your blessings.

I only dislike them on dress boots as they tend to catch my pants more. On casual boots they're okay, but I actually only lace my boots up 2/3 the way regardless.

Hi,
\t I am considering purchasing a pair of Alden Indy's, my only hesitation is with sizing. I am a size 13 in most sneakers (Shox/Samba/All Stars) and have never really owned a pair of shoes that had such precise sizes with reference to width and length.

I want to get them online but ordering online without first trying on the shoe is quite risky as i don't want to keep sending shoes back and forth, I hear some people saying that I should size down one whole size and others saying just half a size, what's worse is that I have no clue about width.

I want to know if there is any accurate way for calculating my precise size to ensure an accurate fit. Or if you know of any Alden retailers in the Miami area that could help. Thanks

I'd size down 1/2.

I wear an 11D in my Indy Boots.

Jack Purcell's - 12
Alden 986 - 11E
Billy Reid Roper - 11
Rainbows - XXL
New Balance 991 - 12
Bass Weejuns - 11EE

I'm a 13D and I wear a 12.5 D in Alden on the Barrie last, but if you can't find an Alden dealer, at least go someplace that sells another standard brand (Allen Edmonds works) and go from there. Barrie should generally be a 1/2 size down from whatever your AE size is.
