Barrie / Barrie / Grant ? Captoe looks like a w/Commando ... so maybe plaza. The different ways the Plaza toe looks in different photos is threatening to bring on a seizure.

The wingtip looks like a larger width for some reason. Beautiful colouring on all! The subtle differences is welt/edging is sublime.

I don't have a good reason, but I struggle with black shoes.
I'm sure the day will come when I "turn to the dark side"
I would buy leather soul's black shell shortwings if they had leffot's red lining, and if they weren't completely sold out.

Thanks. They were a LS makeup I believe for the Beverly Hills store opening about a year and a half ago. They remain my most comfortable pair, I think in part to the waterloc sole

My friend, I think your argument and preference is significantly different than "black shell is just meh..."  For those who do actually wear black shoes, black shell is worth one's time.  For those who choose not to wear black shoes in general, I wouldn't recommend it.

This absolutely sums up my feelings on the topic. I own a couple of pairs of black shoes and I never seem to wear them. Not that I don't like them, I just seem to like all of my other colors better. For someone who likes black shoes to indicate that black shell is meh, well that is just baffling to me.

Black shell just looks plasticky. I've seen some exceptions (e.g. Leffot naval boots) but they tend not to convey that depth that the various shades of brown shells can display.

In my twenties, almost every shoe I bought was black and Italian. Now almost every shoe I buy is some shade of brown and U.S. or English. Wish I had some deep point to make other than the obvious - we all have our tastes and our tastes certainly do change.

+1 except my 20's were filled with big, chunky, square toe Ken Cole monstrosities.
