AE has both stopped their MTO program and discontinued their saddle shoe (Shelton).

I'd look into Vass or Enzo Bonafe at this point. Both same price point as Alden!

Forgive my question if it's already been answered. I've searched and search and couldn't find any definitive answers.

Does anyone know when and where the next brown (ravello, cigar, or whiskey) cordovan release will be? I'm currently on several wait list's but they're more 'wish lists' than anything because nothing has been confirmed by production.

Thank you,

There are more knowledgeable people here, but I'm pretty sure the answer is "there is no definitive answer" - TSM, AoM, AoSF and AoDC all do runs of the exotic (shades of brown) shell, and the runs are irregular.

Personally, I'd be willing to pre-pay in full for a pair of ravello wingtip boots or longwings, but nobody will take that.  Finding them pre-owned is tough too.

I think the best answer is to be alert and ready when an opportunity comes.  Others may have better answers...

Thank you very much for the reply!

I am already on all of their 'wish lists' and the best response I've received was 'I hope it won't take years!' So to your point...I've been scouring the internet for any to pop-up used. So far...No dice in a 10C/D (9.5D barrie/tru).

You and me both! I'd be willing to pay full retail for a used pair (if kept in good condition).

Good to see you back in your Black Shell LHSes Chippy. Those boots are interesting. Steve would probably like them!

@MrVenneri, unfortunately, there is definitely a constraint issue with material right now and Alden doesn't have the material to make the shoes out of. Once they do, they will start confirming orders. When I heard last, which was probably nearly 8-9 months ago, Alden had no Ravello material and was waiting for Horween, who was still in the collecting clear shells phase of production. After they get the shells, it takes 6 months to tan the shells. So it could be any day (theoretically) or it could be another year, we just don't know unfortunately. But stand by patiently, they will confirm pretty quickly once Alden gets the material in hand.

I tried on the LHS loafers in a size 10D, and the width on the balls of my feet were perfect, but the heel was slightly too wide. What would be the proper size given that I have normal width on the balls of my feet and narrow heels? Would anyone recommend heel liners/pads? Would those work? Thanks!

@enigmax89k , frankly, I personally do not like giving sizing advice over the internet, particularly on the Van Last, which is not just a heel and ball of foot issue, but also a vamp (top of the shoe) issue. You could possibly contact an Alden retailer and see if they have a 10C in stock and see if that is more aligned with your width needs. Alternatively, you could try going up to 10.5C or B... Heel Pads could work depending upon how close you are. You *may* also want to try out the Grant Loafer that Alden Madison makes. Its a similar design but made around the Grant Last instead of the Van Last and therefor has different proportions/fitting properties.

I think it's just tobacco chamois. From Leffot.

hmm thank you for both the info on the AE discontinuation of the program, along with some other options.

Do we (styleforum) have a vass or enzo bonafe retailer that is open to MTOs?
