Ravello x DC today. Maiden voyage.

Hi all,

I'm looking for a pair of Alden 990 in 8.5D. However, I'm having trouble finding retailers that ship outside of America. Can anyone recommend some online retailers who would ship out to Asia?

Thanks

Nitty Gritty has a 990 in 8.5D and ships anywhere: http://www.nittygrittystore.com/men/footwear/990-cordovan-derby-blucher-burgundy?p=all

European retailers will generally ship anywhere in the world.

Fransboone from Netherlands will be a good choice, they have complimentary Alden shoe trees for every pair of Alden and free worldwide shipping. However, 990 8.5D is out of stock but 8E is available.

Interesting that you point out that 8E when the posted is looking for an 8.5D,

Is it generally thought that 1 size down/1 size wider is often a good replacement?

I'm still only just getting an understanding of brannock sizing and widths. I've always been a standard 8 in sneakers and general dress shoes that don't offer width sizings, and only just found out I'm really a hair over 7.5 and in between a D and E...so this is all fairly new to me.

That price probably includes VAT/taxes.  If you order and have them ship it out of the EU, they will probably deduct ~20% for VAT.  You should email them or call them.

Barrie is already a very wide last.  If you are an 8.5D in the Barrie last, then you are likely a 9D on the brannock device.  Sizing down to 8 and up to E will result in a very loose heel and not enough room in the toebox.

Thanks @JSO1 for the detailed explanation!

Thanks for your responses. I'm a little bummed by a poor EG MTO experience. Waited for a few months only to receive an epic fail. Am going to try get my hand, or feet, on a pair of Alden's.

Nice shoe and price. Not my listing but they'd be sold if 10D.

Have you tried Tassels in Hong Kong? Is not I might be able to help. My mom regularly ships stuff backhome to China. Let me know if you are interested.
