Can't wait to finally wear the 4060 (on grant last) tomorrow. I've been reserving them for more formal events, so I'll probably switch up the lacing style. And also, I prefer the fit of these over my other Aldens, which are either on the barrie or trubalance.

Now, do you think they're too dressy/narrow to be worn casually or is that best limited to wider shoes and maybe a little more broguing?

I plan on wearing my Grant captoes casually. I will wear any blucher style or open lacing casually, pretty much. Especially #8.

This is the same stock photo they have used for years.  I would bet that if you order this shoe online from J Crew you will receive the the (more-) brown version.  Worst thing that could happen is you return it without any cost on your part.  The other thing you could do is call the J Crew men's shop at Columbus Circle in NYC where I saw them (212-823-9302) and ask them to ship you your size.  The newer version is definitely worth it; GREAT make-up!

Well I'm having it shipped to mailbox and had a personal code. Had to do it online, back date till Oct 31 2013 - hopefully its more of the brown version. Thank you for taking the time.

Sazon, I love your new boots sir. I was so bummed when I had to trade the black Leffot Naval boots for the #8's, and now I'm so happy I did. Did you just Mac those new slippers or did you cheat and use a little Alden #8 wax a la patrick_b to get that shine? Lol. Congratulations and wear them in the best of health my friend.

beSpiff: Thank you sir. I am loving these on day 1! I wiped these down with a damp cloth and just buffed them a little bit with a soft cloth. So the shine is pretty much out of the box!
